Can You Wear Uggs In The Snow?

i live in indiana and it snows and for christmas i asked for ugg boots but then i heard they will get ruined in the snow if you stay out there to long but i just want to wear them at school the only time i will be in the snow with them on is when im at the bus stop for less than 10 minutes and im not sure if i should ask for them if they're just going to get ruined because i don't want to ruin them and waste my parents money. so can they be worn in the snow or like have a water proof repellent that i can buy that actually works
