I truly care about him. What should I do?

There's this guy I really like... He currently has a lot going on in his life..and I think he's weary of relationships. Also, I don't even know if he likes me. Earlier, we used to talk almost every night..but then he got busy with work, etc. These days, I have to take the initiative of keeping in touch..when we talk, everything seems okay...but otherwise, he has been pretty distant and aloof. He has apologized for his behavior and has told me that he is "a little too confused"...I don't even know what to make of it...I just want to be there for him..more as a friend than anything else..and I really really like him..so I wouldn't mind giving 'this thing' some time....Should I give him space and leave him alone? or should I continue to be there for him even if he acts unresponsive and distant, at times?
